About the Opportunity
A well-established heavy civil general contractor is seeking an experienced Grading Superintendent to lead field operations on complex infrastructure and earthwork projects across the Las Vegas Valley. This is an opportunity to join a team known for its long-standing reputation in delivering large-scale public works and private developments—projects ranging from $1 million to $70 million in value.
The ideal candidate is a field-driven leader with extensive experience in grading, site development, and civil infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing crews, schedules, production goals, and safety on multiple active job sites, while ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all grading and earthwork activities including mass excavation, fine grading, and subgrade preparation.
- Lead field crews, operators, and subcontractors, maintaining efficient workflow and production targets.
- Coordinate directly with Project Managers, Engineers, and Survey teams to ensure design alignment and adherence to project specifications.
- Plan and oversee daily and weekly schedules, equipment utilization, and manpower assignments.
- Monitor project progress, quantities, and costs to maintain budget and timelines.
- Enforce company safety protocols and promote a culture of accountability and compliance.
- Conduct jobsite inspections to verify layout accuracy, grading tolerances, and quality control.
- Communicate effectively with clients, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent role focused on grading or earthwork.
- Proven success managing large-scale site development, infrastructure, or roadway projects.
- Strong understanding of GPS and survey controls, blueprints, and grading plans.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and cut/fill maps.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- OSHA 30 and current driver’s license required.
- Experience with project management or field technology (e.g., Trimble, Topcon, HCSS, or Procore) preferred.
