This is a key role in leading and managing the performance and development of the Resolution Hub, this role need to ensure that there is consistent, up-to-date advice being provided to managers and employees.1 permanent role

The London Borough of Newham is committed to delivering exceptional services to our community. We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior HR Consultants to join our dynamic team. 

This role is a crucial in managing the performance and development of their HR team and ensuring consistent, up-to-date advice is provided to managers and employees and lead the Resolution Hub.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the HR Resolution team to triage and respond to initial enquiries from managers and employees, providing the appropriate resolution, e.g., signposting to online information and guidance, response, or referral to the Advice and Consultancy team (where a case is more complex, or specialist advice is needed).
  • Promote, manage and co-ordinate the Council’s conflict resolution service (facilitated conversation or mediation) via a pool of trained mediators. 
  • Manage and co-ordinate the job evaluation process. ensuring roles are appropriately assessed and recorded in compliance with our standards and policies.
  • Coaching and Support: Coach and support team members, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all casework.
  • Case Management: Effectively manage complex HR cases, ensuring thorough documentation and resolution in line with organisational policies and legal requirements.
  • Advisory Services: Respond to and manage enquiries related to all aspects of the employee life cycle, offering accurate and timely advice to staff and management.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with trade unions, fostering a collaborative approach to addressing workforce issues.
  • Organisational Change: Manage and support organisational change programs, ensuring smooth transition and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain and update accurate records of job evaluations, employee data, and other relevant HR documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Extensive experience in Senior HR role/s, with significant focus on advisory services and case management, preferably within a local government or public sector environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop a team of HR professionals.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of HR processes, policies, best practices, and relevant legislation. Familiarity with job evaluation methodologies and employee life cycle management.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with experience in building and maintaining relationships with trade unions and other key stakeholders.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying issues and developing practical solutions.

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east.  It is well connected  by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
