SUMMARY:

The Teen Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising all teenagers (13-18) related activities and events, for supervising teens in the building and related areas for exercising due care for Boys & Girls Clubs' property and for preparing activities and other reports as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist in planning and executing coordinated and integrated activities and programs for teens age 13-18 in the branch/Teen Center and community.
  • To promote and stimulate teen membership and teen participation activities in the branch.
  • To supervise volunteers to implement program activities.
  • To assist in providing effective public relations with teens, parents, volunteers and the community.
  • To provide positive, informal guidance and counseling.
  • To knowledgeably communicate the goals, objectives, programs and activities of the branch, relating to teens.
  • To be accountable for supervision of the teens and the for assigned equipment and supplies.
  • To place referrals with outside agencies when appropriate.
  • To record statistical program data and report on a weekly/monthly basis to Teen Director/Branch Director.
  • To conduct job and career preparation training, to provide teens with information and access to higher education (college) opportunities and to utilize community assets in preparing teens for future opportunities.
  • To perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications


  • Associate of Arts Degree plus 1 year experience in youth recreational programs or 5 years experience in youth recreation with both social recreation and physical recreation experience.
  • Acceptable driving record and a willingness to drive a 14-passendger van. 
  • Must be at least 21 years or older. .
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Must possess good character and decision making skills.
  • Must possess a sincere interest in children, maturity, self-control, and sound judgment.
  • Must have working knowledge of positive youth development and positive behavior management skills.
  • Must possess problem solving skills and be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Must have the energy and ability to get things done within specific time frames.
  • Must support the organization's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Must uphold the policies and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio.
  • Possess record keeping skills.
  • Possess skills for communicating clearly and knowledgeably.
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability to function objectively and fairly in all aspects, including discipline.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in an office atmosphere as well as classroom and gymnasium, all areas of the branch facility, and indoor or outdoor athletic fields, and outdoor environment.
