Job Summary
SUMMARY
New LA is seeking a passionate, well-organized Behavior Interventionist who has proven success working with Special Education populations in the primary or middle grades and is seeking a position in a small school environment. Members of the New LA team are deeply invested in the mission, culture, and success of the school, and collaborate with colleagues on many aspects of the school. Hours are roughly 7:45 am – 3:45 pm daily.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Support an assigned student(s) with an IEP in academic and behavior goals;
Monitor student behavior and utilize approved behavior management techniques to redirect and modify behaviors;
Collect data daily, on behaviors and on interventions used, implement documented Behavior Support Plan as instructed by supervisor;
Monitor, observe, and report behavioral data of students according to approved procedures;
Support and collaborate with general education teacher in providing accommodations for the assigned student with an IEP;
Maintain tracking system for student services and service hours;
Use agreed upon communication protocols to convey information to parents;
Report to Assistant Director of Exceptional Education and support from Behavior Intervention Developer (BID)
Requirements / Qualifications
Possess Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in social work, psychology, education or a related field;
Have experience in a school setting and enjoy working with elementary school students;
Experience working with autism and other developmental disabilities/special needs;
A basic knowledge of behavioral based interventions;
Be committed to the mission and values of New LA and able to articulate commitment to the mission;
Actively engages with and supports the school's social justice mission and demonstrates a commitment to intersectional, anti-racist education
Be a flexible team player;
Have a positive outlook, enjoy collaborating with colleagues and appreciate different points of view;
Knowledge of Welligent a plus;
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Salary Info
New LA offers a competitive hourly rate starting at $20.70 based on experience. Staff members also receive a generous package of medical benefits, as well as a 403B plan.
