WHO YOU ARE
As the Program Coordinator, Publications Data, you will support AGU’s mission to promote discovery in Earth and space science by collecting, tracking, and analyzing data related to journals, books, and enhanced content. Reporting to Director, Publications, you will provide consistent reliable publications-related data analysis and insights so that the Publications staff and editors monitor progress of and attain goals and objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and managing dashboards and automations and improving data tracking and reporting efficiencies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Monitor, analyze, and present publications-related data to internal and external stakeholders including editorial boards, finance department, and AGU leadership.
- Build, maintain, and improve dashboards and reports tailored to diverse audiences.
- Run system reports and update data dashboards, amending as needed to best suit intended audience’s needs.
- In conjunction with supervisor, determine timing and content of reports and analysis to communicate to key stakeholders.
- Present findings on internal and external publications-related trends to stakeholders.
- Manage data analysis projects, from conception to final presentation. Completes follow-up studies with additional data as appropriate.
- Support demographic data collection and analysis to help advance equity in scientific publishing.
- Administer author surveys and analyzes and distributes results. Uses results to make suggestions for improving department operations and strategy.
- Complete ad hoc reports, information pertaining to new or overlapping journal procedures, and clarification of data reporting methods/rationale.
- Prepare routine reports on submissions, peer review activities, manuscript decisions, and stakeholder demographic data.
- Apply basic statistical analysis to appropriate datasets and uses results to advise on business decisions and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Advise on and implements reporting efficiencies and automations.
- Presents at industry events (in both scholarly publishing and Earth and space science) about data analysis projects, results, actions taken, and outcomes.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with data and reports is required.
- Experience in a journals publishing environment preferred.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to communicate easily and effectively with scientists and researchers.
- Ability to write and present data analysis methods and results for audiences of varying expertise.
- Proficient in computer skills including experience with MS Office Suite -Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Experience with basic statistical methods.
- Ability to create and maintain dashboards using automated reporting and Power Query (ex. Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to carry out data analysis projects from conception to final presentation with minimal supervision.
- Ability to answer various peer reviews and publications related research questions using internal and external data.
- Familiarity with SQL, or the ability to learn basic SQL within two months of employment.
- Familiarity with a peer review management system and reports.
- Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail preparing data reports and ability to identify and address errors and inconsistencies in data.
- Ability to identify and discuss trends in data.
- Ability to maintain electronic file/data organization.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment about when to take action and when to seek guidance.
- Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities is required

- Full Time, Exempt, remote position in several US states. (We are NOT hiring in WA, OR and CA for now)
- The salary range for this position is Minimum- $63.2K, Mid-Point is $79K and the maximum in the range is $94.8K. We typically prefer to hire around the mid-range. The salary is determined on several factors.
