This position is for a Test Writer responsible for preparing Virginia Class and/or Columbia Class test documentation primarily for use in accomplishing tests on Non Propulsion Electronics System (NPES) equipment at Combat Control Systems Module (CCSM) Off-hull Assembly and Test Site (COATS), Dockside and at Sea for New Construction, and Post Shakedown Availability (PSA). The successful candidate will determine those systems and components that have been updated and identify applicable testing.
Additionally, the candidate will incorporate previously approved changes and any new changes identified by a system engineer into a revision of the existing documentation. In the new construction program, the candidate will prepare markups of existing procedures, and turn them into new test procedures.
Qualifications:Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-5 years of experience working with MS Office products
- Current active final DoD Secret clearance is required
Preferred:
- Able to read or learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical drawings, construction drawings & diagrams
- 1-5 years of technical writing experience and or BA Degree in English or Teaching
- Have good organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Be able to determine those systems and components that have been updated and identify applicable testing
- Above average ability to learn new PC applications (i.e. ITP)
- Be able to incorporate previously approved changes and any new changes identified by a system engineer into a revision of the existing documents
- Prepare markups of existing procedures, and turn them into new test procedures
- Have strong working skills with PC based systems and/or software is required to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge in or ability to learn Interactive Test Procedures (ITP) and Comprehensive Problem Reporting System (CPRS)
- Knowledge in or ability to learn how read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical diagrams construction drawings, equipment drawings, and vendor equipment manuals and be familiar with shipbuilding specifications, technical manuals and other source documentation
