Description

The Director of Donor Engagement will develop and manage programs to attract, retain, and cultivate relationships with donors - growing agency support year over year. This role involves creating comprehensive strategies for donor relations, coordinating engagement activities, overseeing donor communication, and impact reporting. The Director shall manage a portfolio of donors to deepen partnerships and advance the agency’s mission. The Director of Donor Engagement will fulfill specific duties related to donor engagement and new donor acquisition in support of annual and Comprehensive Campaign fundraising goals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work to develop, implement, and manage multi-year, multi-million-dollar fundraising and stewardship strategies that support the agency’s operational needs.
  • Conduct donor discovery through research and creative prospecting strategies. Develop and execute a range of donor identification and cultivation activities. 
  • Manage a portfolio of prospective donors through personal contact and engagement strategies.
  • Manage the current donor portfolio, achieving retention and growth of their financial support.
  • Achieve prospect management activity metrics, including quarterly and annual goals for face-to-face visits completed, dollars raised, number of solicitations, and new prospects.
  • Utilize the donor database to record all aspects of donor engagement, tracking revenue and retention statistics.
  • Prepare accurate reports and maintain records relating to all donor-related activities.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with current major donors who align with the agency’s mission and have the capacity to make major gifts.
  • Maintain a calendar of donor/community engagement activities.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and speaker at fundraising or social events to enhance awareness of the agency’s mission.
  • Attend Board meetings as requested and engage the Board of Directors to assist in advancement activities. 
  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer in developing and maintaining strong relationships with churches, faith-based organizations, community groups, and local businesses. 
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process.
  • Partner with members of the development, marketing, and finance teams to achieve overall expense and revenue goals.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of program service offerings through participation in agency programs or community meetings as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred. Bachelor’s degree with commensurate experience required. Certification in fundraising desirable. Membership in a professional fundraising organization is preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a high-level fundraising role. Recent experience in fundraising and donor retention strategy development and execution; measurable achievement in cultivating new and major donor relationships. 

Skills and Abilities: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with polished public presentation ability. Proven ability to identify, develop, and nurture new donor relationships. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs, and proficiency using Donor Perfect or other recognized donor database software. Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills are required. Knowledge of marketing strategies and use of social media platforms preferred. Must commit to a spirit of loving service, to the principles of Trauma Informed Care, to faithful stewardship of resources, and to carry out one’s duties with integrity and fairness in support of the pro-life mission of the agency. 

Other: Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and proof of vehicle insurance. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
