The CME Coordinator provides secretarial support to the medical Staff Affairs function ensuring compliance with Federal, State and regulatory requirements. Verifies and maintains credentialing current data for all practitioners at expiration and reappointment.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a CME Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Assists the Medical Staff Director in maintaining current medical staff re-credentialing files.
  • Assists the VPMA and Director of medical Staff services on all matters pertaining to the Medical Staff as requested.
  • Acts as a Physician referral service for the general public.
  • Collects and organizes all information required for the reappointment process of the members of the Medical Staff as directed by the Medical Director. Coordinated their review by Section Chiefs, Department Chairperson and processes the reappointments through the appropriate Committee. Prepares the letters for the CEO informing the applicant of the final decision of the Executive Board. 
  • Assists in the coordination of the reappointment process of the members of the Medical Staff as directed by the Director. Coordinates their review by Section Chiefs.
  • Handles all correspondence for the VP of Medical Affairs.
  • Verifies licenses upon expiration.
  • Maintains accurate and current malpractice insurance information on all practitioners.
  • Answers incoming phone calls and relates messages as necessary.
  • Processes affiliation letters/requests from practitioners and outside agencies as necessary.
  • Ensures delivery of excellent customer service resulting in positive and improving patient satisfaction scores for department and Medical Center.
  • Attends and keeps accurate minutes of the Medical Staff departments as assigned. 
  • Has knowledge of the latest recommendations from the JC and other state requirements as they pertain to the Medical Staff. Has a working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and Departmental Rules and Regulations.
  • Assists the Medical Staff VP in scheduling meetings with the Medical Staff and other personnel.
  • Assists physicians inquires about medical staff privileges.
  • Handles and maintains accurate records of Medical Staff dues.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Prior experience in a Medical Staff office secretarial work.
  • Previous exposure to health care environment, minute taking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
