Job Description:

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for the development of merchandising layouts and the implementation of merchandising strategies for both corporate and independent customers to included, but not limited to, the coordination and supervision of product placement for all total store resets. Coordinate through New Business Development, the re-tagging of all new products. 

Here’s what you’ll do: 

  • Determine department sizes for sub-department (i.e. grocery, frozen, dairy) products and shelving specifications, and research local demographics to determine proper product assortment needed to achieve merchandising strategies. 

  • Develop and manage the details of the store planning project(s) including the plan, schedule, vendor resources, staffing needs, fixture deliveries, task assignments, etc.; track progress and monitor activities through reset completion. 

  • Work with store design team on store layout and add merchandising to the fixtures in the final CAD file

  • Work with shelf technology to assign planograms to corresponding store reset(s); validate planograms to ensure accurate implementation. 

  • Utilize research data on product placement to maximize traffic flow through the store by proper category placement. 

  • Provide retailer with a total store analysis as part of an initial walk through and update as necessary based on reviews with retailer through project completion; work cross-functionally with layout, construction, and equipment to assist retailers as needed.  

  • Coordinate and manage 3rd party merchandisers, assigned store personnel, and sales team during projects

  • Determine vendor support needed and communicate in advance (per established guidelines) prior to reset. 

  • Provide direction to the sales team and store personnel during resets in areas of shelf and product placement and floor conditions.  

  • Ensure store is clean and necessary punch list complete. 

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best Merchandising practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes. 

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. 

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Design, Merchandising or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. 

  • Five years of experience with retail management, merchandising, or store planning to include experience in a supervisory or leadership role required. 

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) strongly preferred. 

  • Prior project management experience preferred. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Strong attention to detail, project management, financial acumen and analytical skills.  

  • Ability to multi-task, work collaboratively, and work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines.  

  • Ability to interact with associates and management at all levels.  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.  

  • Working knowledge of store planning principles and skills.  

  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
