The Shepherd's Study Hall position is responsible for ensuring students with seeming or diagnosed learning needs are supported as they receive best-practice instruction. This position will undergird the school’s ability to identify and help those with existing and emerging needs to meet their God-given potential and succeed within the framework of RCS and the I-ed standards. Student tutoring, parent communication, helping teachers in student I-ed plan management, and supporting the student’s academic organization will be prioritized.


ABOUT RCS:

Resurrection Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian college-preparatory school located in Loveland, Colorado. Founded in 1998 by Rez.Church, Resurrection Christian School serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. RCS is the largest Christian school in Northern Colorado, serving over 1100 families from 19 communities over a 25-mile radius. School enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is approximately 1,470 students. RCS is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); AdvancED. .


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build Christ-centered relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Provide a positive learning environment to promote students who are boldly Christian, academically equipped, and globally prepared.
  • Provide academic support in a small group setting (study hall)
  • Monitor student grades
  • Facilitate communication between classroom teachers and student
  • Provide weekly executive functioning lessons in the small group setting
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development
  • Collaborate and consult with I-ed staff on student progress and needs
  • Coach teachers in support of student individualized plans

SKILLS:

  • Skilled at administration of cognitive and achievement testing.
  • Skilled at oral and written communication.
  • Skilled at basic math.
  • Skilled at personal computer and keyboarding.
  • Skilled at customer service including attentive and active listening with all staff, students, parents/guardians and community members. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to all.
  • Skilled at critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Skilled at presenting to both students and adults.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by the Colorado Board of Education and ACSI Practices in Christian Schools.
  • Knowledge of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google suite, and other department-related software packages.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tests, and writing and interpretation of evaluation results.

ABILITIES:

  • Able to recognize child abuse and child neglect signs and symptoms.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Able to develop and maintain inventory.
  • Able to evaluate and order curriculum and supplies.
  • Able to biblically integrate special class instruction.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Must hold or be able to obtain a current school-approved licensure/certification Must have experience in instructing students in a classroom setting. A special education license or endorsement is preferred. Reading intervention endorsement or experience is also preferred.

Working knowledge of the subject matter assigned, classroom management, best practices and strategies, as well as the understanding of diverse student learning styles and needs is required. Qualifications to administer both cognitive and achievement testing with the ability to interpret testing data is needed. This position will also require reading and writing educational evaluation reports.

Must have excellent planning skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet benchmarks and goals in a timely fashion. Strong interpersonal, organizational, facilitation and management skills are required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Shepherd's Study Hall position  requires intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting of up to 40lbs on occasion. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
