POSITION SUMMARY
· The Physician Assistant works as part of the Hunt Regional provider team, performing a variety of direct patient services including assessment, diagnosis, implementation of treatment, evaluation, monitoring of the general patient management plan, and chronic care. The Physician Assistant performs these functions under the general supervision of a licensed physician in the Hunt Regional Healthcare system. Services may be performed at any of the Hunt Regional Healthcare locations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum Education
o Graduate from an accredited school or Physician's Assistance program
· Minimum Work Experience
o None
· Required Licenses/Certifications
o Must have a current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license.
o Must have or be eligible to have a Texas Pharmacy and DEA License.

· Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques.

· Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs).
· Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff, and the public.
· Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
⦁ Must work varied hours to meet the demands of the position. May be exposed to communicable diseases. May be exposed to combative and irrational patients. Is required to read paper and electronic medical records. Is required to key information using a computer monitor and keyboard. Due to the nature of hospital services, it may become necessary to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift or schedule to ensure adequate care of patients and to maintain service to the community.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Obtains and records client's health history and performs comprehensive physical assessment as part of a physical examination.
7. Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to diagnosis and patient needs.
8. Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests related to patient diagnosis.
9. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment.
10. Prescribes medications under the delegation of the supervising physician, based on Texas Medical Board requirements and according to standard and published therapeutic goals then explains treatment to patients and families.
11. Provides appropriate counseling, education, and support for patients or arranges provisions by other professionals.
12. Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings.
13. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by appropriate communications and referrals to ensure patient needs are met.
14. Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team, as necessary.
15. Initiates and provides ongoing chronic care management for patients with significant chronic illness.
16. Establishes, implements, revises, and manages the patient's care plan addressing the physical, mental, cognitive, psychosocial, functional and environmental needs of the patient.
