WAGE RANGE: $22.00 - $24.50 / Hourly
SHIFT SCHEDULE:
- Tuesday - Friday: 2pm - 10pm
- Saturday: 1pm - 9pm
JOB SUMMARY: Catholic Charities is seeking a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally aware individual to join Catholic Charities as a Diversion Navigator.
The Diversion Navigator provides compassionate, trauma-informed support to individuals and families seeking emergency shelter. This role helps clients identify safe alternatives to shelter, mediates housing-related barriers, and connects people to community resources that promote stability and prevent homelessness. The Diversion Navigator is an essential part of the Hennepin County Continuum of Care (CoC) coordinated assessment system, helping ensure equitable access to housing services for adults and families in crisis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct initial screenings, crisis stabilization, and diversion assessments for callers seeking emergency shelter.
- Collaborate with clients to develop diversion plans that may include landlord or family mediation, short-term financial assistance, or linkage to other housing resources.
- Maintain working relationships with community partners such as Ramsey County, YWCA, Project Home, The Family Place, domestic violence shelters, veterans’ services, and other prevention agencies to ensure clients are connected to the appropriate level and type of service.
- Coordinate closely with County Financial Assistance workers to verify eligibility, complete documentation, and process payments such as rent, utilities, or damage deposits when applicable.
- Track and report required data in HMIS and other systems accurately and promptly.
- Maintain a resource referral database and stay informed about community programs, coordinated assessment processes, and housing stabilization initiatives.
- Provide education, coaching, and advocacy to support clients in navigating systems and achieving housing stability.
- Contribute to program evaluation, service delivery improvement, and collaborative team meetings.
- Represent Catholic Charities at community events and meetings as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education required.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in human services, housing, or related fields.
- Knowledge of housing programs and city regulations, including landlord/tenant law and foreclosure processes.
- Experience conducting intake, assessment, or eligibility determination processes.
- Experience in landlord/tenant mediation, conflict resolution, or housing navigation.
- Working knowledge of community resources for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
- Demonstrated skill in relationship-building and effective interpersonal communication (written and verbal).
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with HMIS and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with diverse and low-income populations, including those experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, or mental illness.
