Job Summary


The Student Services Supervisor position leads the Student Services area and is trained in the areas of cultural education, STEAM programs and curriculum development. The Student Services Supervisor assists K-12 students in developing career pathways whether that career is vocational or professional in nature. This position is responsible for implemtatiom and oversight of an early literacy program for students and families. A working knowledge of K-12 programs including curriculum, special programs, intervention processes, tutoring practices and literacy proficiency.


Essential Functions

  • Ensures un'ina (customer) care and services occur
  • Helps students understand and develop different career pathways
  • Liaisons between parents, teachers, and students for vocational training and educational systemsDevelop systemic programs to help un'ina develop social skills, life skills, independent living skills, literacy skills, employability skills and other essential skills to seamlessly transition into adulthood
  • Provides supervision, direction and cultural resources for the Tutor Liaison program and staff
  • Through appropriate referrals, assist un'ina and families in managing personal issues/crises, school-related problems, home and family concerns and any other issue that interferes with learning including attending IEP meetings when applicable
  • Design and implement early literacy book club and family engagement program
  • Collaborates with the educational and vocational stakeholders including future employers with a goal of un'ina success
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree

Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in school and community based programs
  • Three (3) years of experience working with children and youth
  • Experience working with the Department of Education, and other State and Federal agencies
  • Experience in the development of community program strategies
  • Experience in policy and procedure development & implementation and process flow mapping
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Understanding of public education regulations

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Pediatric CPR & First Aid within 30 days of employment

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

Special Skills

  • Ability to organize, evaluate, and present information orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with professional and support staff.Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, or obtain within 90 days

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
