The Regulatory Data Reporting Officer is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and accurately reporting data to ensure full compliance with applicable banking regulations. This position validates data integrity, monitors evolving regulatory requirements, and ensures reports are submitted accurately and on time. The role also upholds the highest standards of accuracy and integrity while collaborating with internal stakeholders across Brands and departments to gather, validate, analyze, and reconcile operational data. Additionally, the Regulatory Data Reporting Officer provides training and guidance to applicable team members to ensure ongoing compliance and understanding of reporting standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and continually develop a strong working knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements (i.e. HMDA, Fair Lending, CRA, CDFI, etc.), serving as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for regulatory reporting matters. Provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders and interact with regulatory agencies as needed to deliver accurate information and responses.
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate and timely regulatory reports in compliance with federal and state banking requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures. Ensure the integrity, consistency, and completeness of all submitted data.
- Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of regulatory data to identify trends, investigate variances, and confirm accuracy prior to submission. Maintain detailed records.
- Prepare various internal and external reports, interpret data, and analyze results for management and committees.
- Participate in regulatory examinations and internal/external audits by compiling required documentation, preparing supporting schedules, and providing clear explanations of reporting methodologies and results. Serve as a reliable resource for examiners and auditors.
- Partner with Brands, business lines and departments to ensure reporting requirements are properly incorporated into systems, processes, and policies. Proactively communicate and escalate issues that may pose regulatory or operational risks, ensuring resolution in a timely and effective manner.
- Monitor and interpret changes in U.S. regulatory requirements, collaborating with peers and leadership to implement necessary updates to the Bank’s reporting framework, processes, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process enhancements that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of the regulatory reporting function. Recommend and adopt best practices where appropriate.
- Support the Bank in responding to regulatory inquiries by providing accurate data, detailed explanations, and timely follow-up to ensure effective resolution of all requests.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of reporting processes, methodologies, and internal controls to support transparency, facilitate audits, and ensure continuity of operations.
- Develop formal policies, processes, and internal controls, as well as identify operational gaps.
- Train applicable team members as necessary to ensure an understanding of internal policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training opportunities to remain current on regulatory changes, reporting standards, and industry best practices, applying this knowledge to strengthen the Bank’s compliance posture.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned to support the overall regulatory compliance and reporting functions of the Bank.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the financial services industry with a strong background in regulatory reporting and operational risk management.
- Solid understanding of U.S. regulatory reporting requirements with proven ability to interpret complex regulations, assess operational risks, and implement effective policies, processes, and controls to ensure compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Access, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and prepare accurate, insightful regulatory and internal reports under tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of managing projects, driving process improvements, and balancing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships, interact confidently with regulators, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Highly motivated, initiative-taking, and detail-oriented professional with sound judgment, and has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to ethical practices and maintaining a culture of compliance and collaboration.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Office-based role with occasional opportunities for remote work, as permitted.
- 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Offsite training or conferences may be necessary, with the possibility of overnight travel.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
