Reading MTSS Interventionist Teacher
2025-2026 School Year
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Carrollton High School is seeking a dynamic and driven educator to advance Reading instruction and learning within our building. This educator’s schedule will feature designated hours of instruction, as well as opportunities to co-teach, to support students using push-in / pull-out instructional methods, and the opportunity to demonstrate creativity in advancing our building through innovation in Reading education.
REPORTS TO: Edmund Boell, High School Principal
COMPENSATION: Per the Carrollton Education Association Master Agreement. Years of teaching experience will be considered.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Diagnose reading deficits and implement Tier 2 and Tier 3, small-group, evidence-based interventions in math to support other core content areas.
Utilize knowledge and experience in teaching reading and English Language Arts standards to address learning gaps in high school students.
Increase the capacity of school teams to use the MTSS framework in making data-based decisions about instructional core and tiered content to accelerate and maximize student academic outcomes.
Collaborate, co-teach with, and support classroom teachers, school-based instructional teams, and school leaders.
Work with leadership to develop a process to document and progress monitor intervention plans used to improve student achievement.
Ability and willingness to work with students who are struggling learners while implementing positive behavior support as part of an effective overall classroom management strategy.
Ability to differentiate instruction for multiple levels of learners within a classroom setting.
Ability to analyze screening and progress monitoring scores to correctly place students in, or remove students from Tier III math intervention courses.
Maintain confidentiality of student and parent information at all times.
Maintain a positive, professional attitude when interacting with students, staff, parents, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs.
Ability and willingness to lead activity programs for children.
Must be able to lift and assist students when necessary.
Must be self-directed and self-motivated.
Must be highly organized and able to multitask.
High level of proficiency in the Google Suite of products (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc), Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Exhibit professionalism, ethical behavior, and high moral character.
Ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (preferred certification in Reading, English, or related area).
Demonstrated experience with reading intervention and literacy development at the secondary level.
Strong knowledge of MTSS framework and data-based decision-making.
High level of proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Ability and willingness to assist students physically when necessary.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive school environment.
Must satisfactorily pass:
Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b.
Experience working with high school-aged students is preferred.
At least three years of experience in the education field is preferred.
