About This Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Technical Architect to oversee the technical execution of luxury single-family residential infill projects. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in architectural standards, documentation, and construction coordination. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in residential architecture, a strong command of building systems and detailing, and a proactive approach to bridging design intent with construction realities.
On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include
  • Serves as main point of contact for the Architecture team on technical design and constructability questions.
  • Establishes and maintains documentation standards and QA/QC protocols across projects.
  • Ensures technical accuracy, code compliance, and constructability of all architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Maintains and updates Technical Architecture documentation standard work procedures and templates.
  • Owns the quality assurance process for all project documentation, including redlining, peer reviews, and coordination checks.
  • Coordinates closely with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to align construction specifications with architectural intent.
  • Works with architectural staff to resolve technical issues during design and construction phases, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Participates in site visits and construction meetings to monitor progress and ensure fidelity to design and delivery standards.
  • Contributes to standardized processes for company BIM software system.
  • Works closely with the VP of Architecture and other key real estate, design, and construction stakeholders within the company to integrate and improve overall business effectiveness.
  • Researches and maintains thorough understanding of building codes; construction industry and practices; and market trends.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment that promotes technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies opportunities and drives continuous improvement related to document production quality, completeness, efficiency, standardization, and execution.
  • Partners cross functionally on projects and initiatives as needed or required.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of building codes and technical architecture best practices in residential wood frame construction.
  • Ability to demonstrate Revit and BIM360/Collaborate Pro knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced Bluebeam Revu skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively multitask and juggle multiple, simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction or oversight.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to make reasonable, rational, quick decisions while under pressure and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Ability to adopt MN processes and standards.
  • Ability to model and reinforce actions and behaviors consistent with the Company's values, mission and culture.
What You Bring to MN Custom Homes
  • NAAB-accredited degree in Architecture or related field is required
  • Registered Professional Architect (RA – Washington State preferred)
  • 10+ years experience in a technical architecture role
  • 5+ years progressive experience working with teams of technical professionals
  • Experience with wood-frame single-family residential construction
  • Previous experience developing and implementing architectural quality assurance reviews and programs is highly preferred
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This position requires frequent use of a computer, including keyboard functions and visual acuity of 20 inches or fewer on a daily basis
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to work in office Monday – Friday, within core business hours of 8AM-5PM

Hours & Compensation 
This is a full-time position paying $120,825-$181,238. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Individual placement within a salary range will vary based upon factors including but not limited to candidate experience, knowledge, individual, skills, and organizational performance.
