To assist the teacher with the bilingual student’s needs, as well as to help the student to learn English and understand classroom assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
High School Diploma/GED
Texas Educational Aide Certificate
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Possess the ability to speak and write English and the required language fluently.
EXPERIENCE:
None
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist the teacher in translating from students’ native language to English.
Work with students in academic classes.
Assist teacher in non- instructional functions.
Tutor one-on-one and small group.
Assist students with classroom assignments.
Assist teacher to understand bilingual student’s needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:
Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in English and their home language.
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical demands/environmental factors:
Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 lbs.
Standing, bending, walking, talking, and hearing.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
