PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The Director of Accounting will play a key leadership role in the finance organization, supporting the Corporate Controller and CFO in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. This position is responsible for external reporting (SEC reporting), technical accounting, internal financial reporting, consolidation, and P&L and balance sheet analysis. The role also serves as a strategic business partner, providing financial insights to drive business decisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee and manage external financial reporting, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, and other required disclosures).
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, staying up to date on changes in accounting standards.
- Lead technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Manage internal financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
Consolidation & Financial Analysis:
- Oversee the global consolidation process, ensuring proper eliminations and intercompany accounting.
- Perform P&L and balance sheet analysis, identifying key trends and variances.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to support accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with business units to provide financial insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability.
Business Partnership & Leadership:
- Act as a financial advisor to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on financial data and analysis.
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence and integration of acquired businesses.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10-15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred) and corporate accounting experience.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal controls (SOX compliance).
- Experience in financial consolidation and technical accounting.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence key stakeholders.
- Experience in a publicly traded company or complex corporate environment preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or a related industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
- Experience with M&A transactions and accounting integration.
