Finance Director

Description SALARY: Commensurate with experience

WORK DAYS: 240

LOCATION: Central Office

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration

• Minimum of five years experience in finance, accounting and/or financial management

• Eligible for Support Personnel License as issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission

• Skill in effective oral, written and interpersonal communication

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with little or no direct supervision

• Ability to learn and use relevant computer applications

Responsibilities:

• Provides strong and innovative finance and organizational leadership

• Oversees payroll, accounts payable, local, state and federal grants, School Nutrition financial operations; oversight of School Activity Accounts

• Pension plan and benefits administration

• Provides professional financial leadership, as required, to the Superintendent, Board of Education and School Administration

• Reviews and approves various reports, documents, purchase orders and activities directly related to the financial operation of the school system

• Cash management

• Gathers and provides data for the school system’s Risk Management Insurance Policy

• Provides leadership relative to strategic planning and system-wide initiatives

• Directs, coordinates the establishment and monitoring of the budget

• Prepares monthly and annual financial reports for submission to the Board of Education, the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts and other agencies as required

• Provides financial analysis to diverse stakeholders

• Participation in workshops, trainings and staff development activities

• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material

• Supervises and evaluates all assigned personnel

• Performs any other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent
