SDI’s client is seeking an Apprentice - Jr. Cloud Application Developer to support the maintenance and enhancement of Big Data / Large Data Sets. The ideal candidate will have an introductory background with Azure or AWS and experience in several of the following areas: Cloud Networking, Cloud Containers, Serverless Computing, Kubernetes (AKS), Docker, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab Runners), Zero Downtime Deployment Strategies, and Disaster Recovery (DR). This is a hybrid position reporting on-site 3 days/week.

Summary
The Apprentice - Jr. Cloud Application Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement networking strategies that optimize performance and reliability. This role is responsible for implementing and optimizing zero downtime deployment strategies, monitoring and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, and staying current with industry trends in cloud computing, DevOps, and AI code generation.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement networking strategies for performance and reliability.
• Implement and optimize zero downtime deployment strategies to minimize service disruptions during updates and upgrades.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure and applications for performance, cost, and security.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in cloud computing, DevOps, and AI code generation.
• Apply good software development discipline, including CI/CD techniques and effective design/implementation of data movement and simple manipulations.
• Maintain and enhance large data sets, including deployment of components and infrastructure as necessary.
• Conduct continuity testing of large data sets.
• Provide day-to-day support for client/partner issues, frequently interacting via ServiceNow, email, and phone.
Requirements
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VPC).
• Familiarity with zero downtime deployment strategies and techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Persuasive communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with Snowflake.
• Experience with one or more of the following: Node JS, AWS Lambda or Functions, Kafka or Event Hub.
• Experience with one or more of the following: Rust, Python, Golang, JavaScript, Typescript, or SQL.
• Ability to maintain and enhance large data sets.
• Experience deploying large data set components and infrastructure.
• Experience with continuity testing of large data sets.
