Regional Vice President - Americas
We are looking for a Regional Vice President America's based in our Huntersville, NC location. The Region Americas is currently covering five countries (US, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Canada) with more than 25 sites. The overall revenue in this region is US ~500m and the number of FTE ~1500. The Regional Vice President - Americas is a transitional role to take over the regional President responsibility in 6 – 12 months. The role of Regional Vice President – Americas will have line responsibility in Americas as head of strategy and business development.
As a key member of the Oerlikon Management Team, the incumbent will play an essential role in driving both organic and inorganic strategy projects and critical initiatives across the Americas Region. This individual will identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities, contribute to shaping the future portfolio of Oerlikon Americas pursuing an ambitious plan to double over the next five years, and serve as a trusted advisor to the Regional President and Head of Strategy.
During the initial 6–12 months, the successful candidate will spend excessive time in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, working for group executive management on a project. This will require frequent travel throughout Europe to gain deep insight into Oerlikon’s operations, develop a network at the headquarters in Switzerland/Lichenstein while executing a multidisciplinary project with high management visibility. In the latter half of 2026, the position will relocate to Huntersville, NC, where the focus will shift to advancing overall strategy, overseeing business development, and assuming P&L responsibility for the Americas region. It is anticipated that in 2027, this individual will transition into the role of Regional President of the Americas, taking full P&L accountability for sales and operations across the US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina, with sales operations totaling approximately US 500m.
Your Responsibilities:
In the first year (Regional Vice President – Americas) will be responsible for:
• In depth familiarization of the business and build a close professional network across the company;
• Execute a key project/initiative with focus directed by Executive Management;
• Challenge strategy and growth in the Americas to enhance Oerlikon’s market position and develop future business portfolio and validate financial impact of key growth initiatives/business cases.
After assuming the role of the Regional President – Americas the position will:
• Execute the growth strategy within the five-year business plan driving initiatives across all business & countries;
• Ensure targets for Sales and Profitability are met within the budget cycle with full P&L responsibility;
• Drive performance culture and develop a pipeline for organizational development, talent management & succession planning focused on growth strategy
Regional Strategy:
• Closely work with the Regional President and Americas Leadership Team to drive the overall regional strategy as well as business and organizational development forward;
• Manage strategy projects and large work streams for the OSS business in Americas; support and drive successful execution by enabling the local teams;
• Interact with the Leadership Team in the Regional and Corporate level to and facilitate key discussions;
• Facilitate Executive and team workshops to ensure results and engagement;
• Act as multiplier for “strategic thinking” and enable the management team to better conceptualize the many opportunities across the Region.
Business Development:
• Drive and implement strategic partnerships with customers and business partners that foster new opportunities for OSS in the Region;
• Create business plans based on data driven market and customer analysis and ensure reliable financial evaluations while challenging existing business plans; think and act as entrepreneur;
• Participate in key external events (exhibitions, conferences, universities) and associations, to build a strong external and internal network of experts to support execution of new businesses;
• Screen investment opportunities (M&A) and initiate strategic dialogs with potential partners in the region.
Leadership & influence:
• Closely work with the Regional Leadership Teams and Corporate Strategy Teams.
• Interaction with the highest levels of the organization including CEO, COO, & CFO to drive a key management project.
• Ability to influence / work together with key stakeholders to drive implementation of strategic initiatives in the region.
• Adaptable communication skills to talk from all levels from the C-Suite to Shop Floor employees.
Your Profile:
• University degree in Engineering / Sciences and/or Business required with solid technical understanding and passion for Manufacturing. Additional Business degree (e.g.: Masters in Business Administration) desired.
• 15+ years work experience in industrial global organizations, service the following markets: tooling, aero, defense, packaging, automotive, energy/oil & gas, ideally with deep knowledge and a personal network in at least two of these markets.
• Minimum 5 years P&L and strategy with personal responsibility of 50 million in a global company with 1-5 billion in total revenue.
• Passion for commercial growth and customer focus (driving strategic growth initiatives and experience in sales management through different channels).
• Technical and industry background with strong relation to surface / materials within manufacturing.
• Strong experience in strategy, business development; has successfully managed large and complex international strategic and/or business development projects or
• Leadership experience running larger organizations in manufacturing environments
• Operational financial performance management in regards to GAAP
• Proven experience in driving excellence initiatives in sales and manufacturing preferred
• Strong Communication skills across all levels of the organization, both internal and external from BOD to shopfloor.
• Understands group dynamics and individual needs. Proven leadership in managing, motivating and engaging people in a matrixed organization.
• A hands-on, positive, pragmatic, flexible and results-driven person with a high level of energy as well as the ability to meet multiple and tight timelines under pressure.
• Willingness to travel, approx. 50% of time
