The Role
The Senior Program Associate operates with a high degree of independence, is proactive with the ability to take initiative, and prioritizes a successful expansion and achievement of the mission Homecoming Project. They work across teams to oversee timelines, internal systems, and ensure successful program delivery—including host retention and approval, community engagement opportunities for recruitment, and host support. The position requires a balance of strategic thinking and practical implementation, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders. The Senior Program Associate has at least 3 years of work experience in housing/rental properties/property management, people management, case management, client and/or community outreach.
What You Will Do
- Serve as the main point of contact for the community hosts throughout the 6-month housing arrangement.
- Supervise host experience throughout the phases of the program: recruitment, placement, exit.
- Lead strategic planning and execution of recruitment strategists and outreach efforts for community hosts.
- Track, manage and lead recruitment and retention efforts of community hosts.
- Support and coordinate host training, onboarding, and related convenings to strengthen host and participant engagement.
- Adopt and revise standing policies and procedures of existing recruitment and retention efforts.
- Provide technical assistance and operational support for host recruitment, engagement, and events.
- Supervise and coordinate internal contributors, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
- Facilitate cross-functional communication and represent the program with external partners, including funders and community stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with an orientation to results.

- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, especially in high-stakes or sensitive contexts.
- Excellent computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, Google G-Suite, Salesforce, Asana and to learn other information database systems quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with competing priorities.
- Experience coordinating stakeholders and strategic execution in community-centered work.
- Adept at time management and highly organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in networking skills with an ability to maintain established relationships.
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean and reliable vehicle, with current registration and proof of insurance. Driver and vehicle must meet the terms of IJ’s vehicle use policy.
- Case management experience.
- Crisis intervention & mediation for conflict resolution.
- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred but not required. Qualified bilingual staff (confirmed by a certification exam paid by the Employer) will be eligible to receive a stipend at seventy-five dollars ($75) per month. Spanish-speaking candidates will be required to take a proficiency test as part of the interview process.
Applying
- Hybrid position based in Oakland; required to be in person 2 days a week.
- Extensive frequent travel required throughout the Bay Area, often on non-office days, including in Alameda and San Francisco County, including some evenings and/or weekends to attend training sessions, outreach meetings, fieldwork, host meetings, partner meetings, and other recruitment related events and conferences. Mileage reimbursement and flex time provided, per Impact Justice policy.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $73,000-78,500, depending on experience.

- This is not a remote position. This position will work in the field and also report in-office twice per week.
