The Role

 

As Power BI Developer you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising Power BI reports and dashboards across Fleet Alliance and the wider Global Vehicle Group. Focuses on front-end design, data visualisation, and ensuring accurate, reliable reporting. Collaborates with stakeholders to turn data into actionable insights and supports data cleaning and validation to strengthen reporting confidence.

 

What will I be doing


  • Power BI Development: Design, build, and optimise interactive dashboards and visualisations, ensuring accuracy, performance, and a strong user experience.
  • Data Preparation & Modelling: Clean, validate, and restructure existing data sources and tables for reliable reporting, using Power Query or other appropriate transformation methods to build efficient data models that support accurate insights.
  • Integration & Connectivity: Connect Power BI to SQL, APIs, and gateways, ensuring secure, efficient data pipelines and supporting future cloud and data platform initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Gather requirements, prototype layouts, and refine reports through feedback and workshops. Document processes to ensure alignment, transparency, and easy handover.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain data security and compliance, stay current with Power BI updates, improve existing reports, and help enforce reporting and governance standards.
  • End-User Support: Provide training, user guides, and ongoing support to ensure effective report usage, maintaining a feedback loop for continual enhancement.

 

Key Areas of Focus


  • Group Performance Reporting: Developing dashboards that provide consolidated insights across multiple business units, enabling group-wide visibility and informed decision-making.
  • Sales and Operational Analytics: Delivering detailed reports and analysis on performance, trends, and forecasts to support strategic planning across the group.
  • Departmental Insights: Building reports tailored to departmental needs, ensuring metrics are relevant, actionable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Reporting: Supporting compliance initiatives (e.g. Consumer Duty) by delivering transparent, accurate, and auditable reporting.

 

 

What you’ll need to succeed



  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). Microsoft certifications are a plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Power BI development, with advanced proficiency in DAX, SQL, and data modelling, including performance optimisation.
  • Proven ability to create reports for all business levels, including executive and board level.
  • Experience integrating Power BI with enterprise and cloud data sources via APIs, gateways, and direct connections.
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, dataflows, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Solid grasp of data visualisation and UI/UX design principles, with familiarity in tools such as Figma or Balsamiq.
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts to enhance reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and Agile collaboration.
  • Desirable: Microsoft certification, Python or R knowledge, and familiarity with cloud data tools (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse).
