POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Sr. Project Coordinator at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for playing a critical role in identifying and securing new business opportunities, managing proposal efforts, and supporting the coordination of ongoing marine and port engineering projects. You will work closely with project managers, technical teams, and external stakeholders to support both business growth and project delivery.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
Business Development
- Research and track potential projects, solicitations, and partnership opportunities in the marine and port infrastructure sectors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients including port authorities, terminal operators, maritime agencies, and government entities.
- Lead or support preparation of qualifications, proposals, and presentations for new business pursuits, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.
- Maintain and update CRM systems with opportunity data, leads, and client interactions; generate reports for leadership review.
- Represent LJA at industry events, conferences, and meetings to support visibility and market presence.
Project Coordination
- Assist project managers in the planning, execution, and monitoring of marine and port engineering projects.
- Coordinate internal workflows between technical, environmental, permitting, and administrative teams.
- Track and document project milestones, deliverables, and client correspondence to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Support logistics and documentation for field operations, including access permits, subcontractor coordination, and mobilization planning.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and track action items to support project efficiency.
General Support
- Compile and organize documentation for regulatory submissions, environmental permitting, and project reporting.
- Support team efforts in preparing internal budgets, schedules, and resource planning tools.
- Monitor industry trends, funding opportunities, and policy updates relevant to marine infrastructure to inform strategic decisions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in business development, project coordination, or marketing within the engineering or construction industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM and project management tools.
IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:
- Experience with marine, port, or coastal engineering projects.
- Working knowledge of government procurement processes, TxDOT, USACE, or port authority procedures.
- Experience with proposal writing and SOQ development (especially for public-sector clients).
- Familiarity with permitting and environmental compliance in marine settings.
