Position Summary
The Dock Manager is a manager responsible for overseeing the Dock Team in all dock functions. This role ensures efficient loading and unloading of plant carts, floor stacks, and pallets, as well as scanning and sorting of trucks. The manager ensures that deliveries meet the quality standards and that safety protocols are strictly followed. This position has full authority for personnel actions and is accountable for meeting project and department milestones and adhering to approved budgets. In addition to their core responsibilities, the team is expected to demonstrate flexibility and cross-functional support by assisting other departments within the greenhouse during periods of low dock activity. This includes contributing to tasks such as production support, quality control, and general operational needs to ensure overall workflow continuity and maximize productivity across the facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises and manages the Crew Leaders and their teams in the Shipping Department. Responsible for hiring, training, developing, and retaining a team of high performers.

Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently load and unload trailers.
- Accurately and efficiently scan and sort both incoming and outgoing trucks.
- Ensure quality of deliveries meet Metrolina Standards.
- Work through schedules with other area managers for team flexing based on business needs.
- Ensure daily task lists are completed on time.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for business updates with the Director.
- Build a highly functioning team through hiring, training, and development.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
- 1 - 3 years of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years of experience directly managing others.
- 3+ years managing a function in shipping and/or logistics.
- Proven ability to meet strict timelines and manage time.
- Proven ability to mediate and resolve employee conflict.
- Basic Office 365 working knowledge, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Business math skills.
- Ability to manage employee records on company HRIS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate Office 365 skills in Excel, Teams, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Experience managing employee records in ADP.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish.
Job Setting & Physical Demands
This position is primarily outdoors but may be required to work between locations and within an indoor office environment for administrative duties, which may require the use of computers and standard office equipment. Fluency to read, write, and understand the English language is required. Must be able to work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens. There are occasional needs to work in confined spaces. Position requires long-term ability for standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting on a regular basis to fulfill essential duties. Candidate must have the ability to operate all machinery necessary within the department and across the facility, including but not limited to driving the scooter.
As a manager, candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends as business needs arise, including the possibility of 7-day work weeks in peak seasons. Employee must have the ability to lift 35 pounds unaided.
