Location: Harlan County Health System – Alma, Nebraska
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; rotating weekends and holidays

Harlan County Health System is seeking a caring and detail-oriented Registration / Patient Care Technician to join our patient-focused team. This position plays a vital role as the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring an excellent experience from registration to discharge—all while supporting direct patient care under supervision.
What You’ll Do:
Patient Registration & Communication
- Greet and assist patients and visitors in a professional, compassionate manner.
 - Complete accurate registration, including financial and demographic data.
 - Verify insurance information and coordinate with Utilization Review.
 - Answer and direct phone calls, and assist staff with outgoing calls related to patient care.
 - Respond to emergency calls per established protocols.
 
Patient Care Support
- Assist nursing and ER staff with basic patient care needs, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
 - Transport specimens to the lab and retrieve necessary supplies.
 - Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
 - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
 
Safety & Infection Control
- Practice proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
 - Adhere to infection control standards and safe handling of materials.
 - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
 
Equipment & Supplies
- Restock and maintain equipment and supplies.
 - Report any malfunctioning equipment or supply shortages.
 
Additional Information
- Access to facility 24 hours a day.
 - Access to confidential patient information per privacy policies.
 - Serves patients across all age groups.
 - Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
 - Previous experience in healthcare or patient registration preferred.
 - Strong communication, organization, and computer skills.
 - Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays.
 
Physical & Work Environment
- May sit or stand for extended periods.
 - Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
 - Work is typically performed in an office or clinical setting with a moderate noise level.
