POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Community Investments Team is responsible for ensuring that the Foundation’s grant programs, special initiatives, and grants management services are expertly managed and meet the needs of our donors, nonprofits, and the community. At our core, the team keeps a steady pulse on community needs, current and local events, and our wide network of partners and related activities on behalf of the Foundation. 


The Miami Foundation has a rich and growing ecosystem of data from 1,200+ Give Miami Day nonprofit registrations, 900+ grant applications, 150+ grant reports, and tens of thousands of donor transactions. We are looking for a team member who can help transform this data into insights and learnings that drive strategy, deepen equity, and tell Miami's story with accuracy and care.

As the Data & Engagement Manager, you will play a key role in reimagining how we capture, organize, and share the impact of our philanthropic investments. The ideal candidate is meticulous with data, driven by curiosity, and deeply committed to equity and integrity in how stories and numbers are shared. They bring both analytical rigor and narrative skill, ensuring our learning is rooted in accountability and a commitment to continuously improving how we serve Greater Miami.

Pay Range - $80,00 - $90,000 annually based on   experience and qualifications

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Data Management, Analytics, Learning and Impact


Data Management: 

  • Oversee the full data lifecycle from collection and entry to cleaning, validation, and analysis across grants, reports, donor activity, and other data sources. 
  • Maintain data integrity and documentation standards to ensure consistency and reliability across systems. 
  • Manage and optimize data within the grants portal and other tools to support program, donor, and operational needs. 

Data Analysis: 

  • Produce clear, accurate, and actionable data reports to inform strategic decision-making across teams. 
  • Support external reporting and compliance needs related to donor communications, grant deliverables, and other external reporting.
  • Anticipate data needs and proactively create systems and visuals that make information more accessible and meaningful.
  • Support team members with data requests and other related needs.

Learning and Impact

  • Support the program evaluation process, including planning, execution, capturing and reporting of key metrics.
  • Contribute to the creation of evaluation tools including forms, surveys, and assessments.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders (particularly as it relates to our grantmaking and annual Give Miami Day).
  • Help shape The Foundation’s evolution as a learning organization, ensuring data is used to reflect honestly on progress, identify challenges, and drive equitable outcomes.
  • Integrate an equity lens into analysis ensuring data interpretation highlights systemic barriers and community strengths rather than deficits. 

Stakeholder Relationships / Community Engagement

  • Continue building strong, trust-based relationships with nonprofits and community partners to better understand local context and evaluate community voice in data interpretation and evaluation design.   
  • Serves as a primary Foundation contact for the nonprofit sector, building a strong range of relationships.
  • Represent the Foundation at community gatherings, virtually and in person, to support the work of existing partners and initiate conversations with potential partners.
  • Work closely with the Philanthropy department to provide guidance and recommendations to Fundholders and donor prospects on effective nonprofits working on issues of interest.

Portfolio Management

  • Support various grant programs at the Foundation, working with the team to shape guidelines, promote funding opportunities to nonprofits, and conduct the proposal review process.
  • Conduct research as needed on community issues and organizations to inform grantmaking, donor recommendations, and other Foundation activities.

Assist other team members or Foundation departments as needed and other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or life experience.
  • 6-8 years of work experience in the social sector in a programmatic role in Miami at a nonprofit, foundation, or government entity.
  • Experience in data collection, data management, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and creation of analytical products like reports and dashboards
  • Experience creating and managing the creation of impactful data visualizations across multiple projects for a variety of data sets (qualitative and quantitative) and audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community-related needs and issues and demonstrated leadership in addressing them. Prefer candidates who already possess a strong understanding of Miami’s nonprofit landscape and hold existing relationships across Miami.
  • Strong experience in cultivating extensive relationships across various sectors and segments of a community. 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, Asana, email, project management platforms, internet research and/or other similar tools.
  • Familiarity with grants management systems (like Foundant), CRMs, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Multilingual is a plus
