Position Summary
The Development Associate provides essential administrative and logistical support to the Development & Community Relations department, playing a key role in the facilitation of our fundraising strategies. This position involves maintaining donor relationships, donor stewardship, tracking fundraising progress, community engagement, and assisting with the preparation of development materials. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and enthusiastic about advancing our mission.
Pay Rate: $24 an hour
Open Shift: Monday through Friday 9am-5pm (40h)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Development & Community Relations department.
- Assist in maintaining the donor database, ensuring accurate records of contributions, relationships, and ongoing communication.
- Support the planning and facilitation of fundraising events and campaigns by coordinating logistics, assisting with event materials, and solicitation as assigned by the Director of Development.
- Represent the Development & Community Relations department at external community events and internal events.
- Support the creation of communication materials, including donor appeal letters, newsletters, and reports, to effectively convey our mission and impact.
- Organize and analyze fundraising data; generate reports to assess progress towards development goals and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct research on prospective donors, grant opportunities, and community partnerships to support the development team’s strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with other team members to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals, actively participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.

Requirements
- Valid driver’s license, sufficient insurance, acceptable driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
- 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit development roles within the nonprofit sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Passion for social impact and the mission of MHA (Mental Health Association).
- Ability to work in a hybrid setting, with office-based and community engagement work expected
