Position Overview

The Custodian will support the smooth operation of our workplace by performing light repairs and general maintenance tasks. As a member of the facilities team, the custodian ensures that employees can work comfortably and efficiently by keeping the building and grounds in good condition, responding promptly to maintenance requests, and supporting the setup of workspaces and meeting areas. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, functional, and professional office environment for employees and visitors. 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Conduct light repairs and maintenance throughout the office including:
    • Replacing lightbulbs and ceiling tiles
    • Fixing door handles, locks, and minor furniture issues. 
    • Touch-up painting and patching small wall imperfections
    • Unclogging sinks or toilets and addressing minor plumbing issues
  • Perform routine inspections of office facilities and report larger maintenance needs
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs or inspections
  • Ensure emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and safety equipment are accessible and in working order
  • Maintain outdoor areas (e.g. grounds, entryways, walkways) for cleanliness and safety. (Landscaping excluded)
  • Support meeting room setups and breakdowns for events or presentations
  • Monitor HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems for basic functionality
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and request restocks when necessary
  • Assist cleaning staff during peak times or emergencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall maintenance and functionality of the office

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • 2+ years of proven experience in janitorial custodial, maintenance, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform minor janitorial tasks independently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or perform tasks for extended periods. 
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop and kneel as needed.
  • Good hand-eye coordination for precise tasks. 
  • Clear vision, including color vision and depth perception.
