Job Description:
Overview:
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of control systems and instrumentation for industrial projects. This hands-on role involves working directly with PLCs, HMIs, and field instruments under the direction of engineering and specialist staff. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working safely and effectively in a field environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation and configuration of PLCs, HMIs, GUIs, radios, and instrumentation.
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of control systems and field devices.
Support the setup of control panels and wiring of instrumentation and control components.
Identify and report system issues, safety hazards, and potential improvements.
Interpret basic control schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation.
Work collaboratively with engineering and project teams to execute fieldwork safely and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of six months of experience or training in instrumentation, electrical, control systems, or a related field, depending on level.
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
Apprentice electrical license required; journeyman license eligibility preferred.
Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs (Siemens, Modicon, or Allen Bradley experience is a plus).
Basic understanding of instrumentation wiring, sensors, and motor control circuits.
Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, control schematics, and safety procedures.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Dependable, adaptable, and collaborative with a proactive mindset.
Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Willing to work on-call, after hours, and overtime as needed (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
