Overview: 


The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of control systems and instrumentation for industrial projects. This hands-on role involves working directly with PLCs, HMIs, and field instruments under the direction of engineering and specialist staff. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working safely and effectively in a field environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the installation and configuration of PLCs, HMIs, GUIs, radios, and instrumentation. 

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of control systems and field devices. 

  • Support the setup of control panels and wiring of instrumentation and control components. 

  • Identify and report system issues, safety hazards, and potential improvements. 

  • Interpret basic control schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation. 

  • Work collaboratively with engineering and project teams to execute fieldwork safely and efficiently. 

  • Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards. 

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of six months of experience or training in instrumentation, electrical, control systems, or a related field, depending on level. 

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred. 

  • Apprentice electrical license required; journeyman license eligibility preferred. 

  • Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs (Siemens, Modicon, or Allen Bradley experience is a plus). 

  • Basic understanding of instrumentation wiring, sensors, and motor control circuits. 

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, control schematics, and safety procedures. 

  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. 

  • Dependable, adaptable, and collaborative with a proactive mindset. 

  • Able to work independently or as part of a team. 

  • Willing to work on-call, after hours, and overtime as needed (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.). 

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
