Keene State College’s Psychology Department seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 17, 2026.

We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Developmental Psychology (ABD near completion will be considered). Candidates in related specialty areas could also be considered. Courses to be taught include Child and Adolescent Psychology, Adulthood and Aging, Cognitive Psychology, and potential advanced courses at the upper level. At least 1 year of college or university teaching experience is required. The ideal candidate will have the ability to conduct research with undergraduates and supervise undergraduate research. The teaching load is three 4 credit courses per academic semester. Faculty may also have an opportunity to teach courses in the College’s Integrative Studies Program. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental activities and campus-wide service, maintaining an active record of scholarship, and engaging in professional development.

Duties/Responsibilities

Teaching Effectiveness (34%)

  • Teaching occurs in a multiplicity of ways in both formal and informal settings. Models include lecture, seminar, Internships, and independent studies.

  • Effective teaching is evaluated through instructional materials, pedagogical practices, peer review, and student evaluation data.

Scholarship and Related Professional Activity (33%)

  • Scholarship can be evidenced in myriad ways ranging from publications, presentations, and other professional activities.

Service to the department, the College, and students (33%)

  • Service responsibilities range from service to the Academic program/Department, membership on campus-wide and/or ad-hoc committees to participating in student retention and recruitment activities.

  • Faculty members are expected to provide service to students through advising and mentoring students.

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology. ABD near completion will be considered but must be completed by August 1, 2026. 

  • One year’s teaching experience at the college or university level is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in Developmental Psychology.

This position falls within the collective bargaining unit for full-time faculty members and librarians as part of the Keene State College Education Association (KSCEA), which is affiliated with the National Education Association of New Hampshire (NEA-NH).
