Position Summary:
Non-Tenure-Track Assistant Professor - Exercise Science/Athletic Training
Misericordia University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Exercise Science. We seek a dynamic educator and scholar with expertise in athletic training, sports medicine, and injury prevention to support undergraduate curriculum development and contribute to the university’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. This position also supports the department’s efforts toward CAAHEP accreditation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester in Exercise Science and Athletic Training courses.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based curriculum aligned with CAAHEP standards.
- Mentor undergraduate students in research and clinical experiences.
- Maintain currency in athletic training practices and pedagogy.
Research:
- Establish and maintain an active research agenda in athletic training or sports medicine.
- Present scholarly work at professional conferences.
- Engage undergraduate students in research projects.
Service:
- Participate in departmental and university committees.
- Pursue external funding through grants.
- Support CAAHEP accreditation preparation and documentation.
- Contribute to student recruitment and program assessment.
- Engage in professional service and community outreach such as supporting efforts in developing fieldwork opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or a closely related field.
- Board of Certification (BOC) credential as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in good standing.
- Eligibility for Pennsylvania Athletic Training licensure.
- Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as an Athletic Trainer.
- Experience teaching at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in sports medicine or orthopedics.
- Additional certifications (e.g., CSCS, FMS).
- Demonstrated success in grant writing and scholarly publication.
