Patient Care Technician - Critical Care - Evening/Nights
Patient Care Technician position in Critical Care Unit (Evening/Nights - 36 hour work week)
**The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MD Anderson provides patient focused care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice. The ICU team participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital -based committees, and local and national conferences.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.
Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of recent experience working as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care setting. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Prefer one year of recent experience working in direct patient care.
Shift: This position works 3-12/hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Evening/Nights

Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Preferred: One year of recent experience working as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting.
Licensure/Certification
Preferred: Nursing Assistant Certification.
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening.
