Starting Salary:  $45,000 (negotiable dependent upon experience)


Basic Qualifications

 

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; specialized bank finance/accounting education/training.

 

Skill(s): Proficient in English, reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; proficient organizational and process/project management skills; proficient leadership, management, and supervisory skills; proficient accounting skills; knowledge of general ledger accounting and accounts payable; proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office.

 

Experience: A minimum of one (1) year’s related experience required.

 

General Responsibilities

 

Responsible for assisting the Accounting Department to ensure the proper control of Bank accounting and wiring activities.

 

Essential Duties:

 

1.  Assists the Accounting Department to ensure proper control of Bank accounting and wiring activities.  Performs various accounting duties of which the following are illustrative:

  1. Assists with all invoices and purchase orders to ensure they are processed timely and accurately with appropriate documentation and approvals.
  2. Ensure wires are processed and documented with appropriate approvals.
  3. Ensure that invoices are properly coded for general ledger and tax reporting.
  4. Communicate with vendors as needed and manage follow up of needed information. 
  5. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
  6. Assist with daily set-up and maintenance of all new and existing vendors, coordinate sending/receiving of vendor information for paying of checks, ACH and Direct Deposit. 
  7. Maintain file and documentation for company.
  8. Assist with timely receipt of W-9’s and submission of 1099s to appropriate vendors and to the IRS and State.
  9. Responsible for the administration of the Bank’s Wire Transfer System.  Assists with transmission of payment messages, services messages related to all wire transfer functions and transactions.
  10. Ensure all wire transfer transactions are processed in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
  11. Knowledge of electronic funds transfer system (WireXchange and Federal Reserve) automation capabilities and requirements to promote straight through processing.
  12. Ability to complete all transactions by established cutoff times while maintaining high quality and accuracy of transactions.
  13. Demonstrates the ability to handle a high-volume, high-risk process maintaining quality standards with adhering to policy and procedures.
  14. Ensure wire inquiries and issues are researched and addressed timely and accurately.
  15. Follow multiple steps to verify all wiring instructions and confirm funds availability per procedures. 
  16. Review wires for fraudulent scams and red flag suspicious activity and communicate directly with compliance staff.
  17. Consult with head of compliance to investigate suspicious activity before the wire is released.
  18. Maintain a thorough understanding of the Federal Regulations that govern wire transfer transactions including, but not limited to, Reg J, Reg E Dodd Frank, bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws.
  19. Maintain wire logs for audits.
  20. Assists with the Disaster Recovery for wires annually. 
  21. Assists with preparation for various audits and regulatory exams by gathering materials, assists with preparation of assigned schedules.  Assists with accounting reconciliations.

2.  Implements strategies to achieve goals assigned to the Accounting Department as established in the Finance Division's annual strategic plan; assists in the development of the annual budget for the department and adheres to budget parameters.

3.  Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.

4.  Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.; ensures that the department and all personnel adhere to the same.
