- Expertise in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, to build reports and keep records sharp.
- Hands-on experience with journal entries is a must for this position.
- Exposure to capital assets accounting is a definite plus, especially if you’ve worked with acquisitions, transfers, or disposals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare bank transfers, wires, stop payments, and voided checks; manage positive pay and monthly bank downloads.
- Post daily bank deposits and journal entries in the general ledger.
- Create claims and purchase orders; process vendor files and ensure W-9 compliance.
- Manage 1099 vendor tracking, reporting, and year-end filings.
- Perform monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing procedures.
- Calculate and remit Food & Beverage and Sales Taxes.
- Maintain financial and fixed asset records, including acquisitions, transfers, and disposals.
- Support the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
- Prepare capital lease files and submit reports through the Gateway portal.
- Assist with external audits and maintain organized documentation for consultants and auditors.
- Ensure compliance with City policies, internal controls, and state reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent work experience).
- 5–7 years of experience in accounting or finance; government finance experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of municipal accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn specialized financial software.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to review and interpret complex financial data.
- Strong communication skills for working with auditors, department heads, and elected officials.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
