Power-using decision-making and valuation materials for player analysis and evaluation.
Driving progress and improvements in the pro player acquisition processes.
Administration, quality control, and operational support for entire department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement and improve systems across all areas of the pro acquisition operation with a focus on advancements in workflow, tools, evaluative methods, decision-making, and staff development.
Assist department leadership in player vetting processes and comprehensive analysis for potential acquisitions.
Collaborate across baseball ops domains to identify and drive research opportunities that will enhance player evaluation.
Evaluate pro players across assigned areas of responsibility using a hybrid approach of video and live scouting.
Oversee department Associate and their development.
Own a heavy workload of administrative tasks including, but not limited to:
Maintaining and enhancing departmental information and communication platforms.
Collaborate cross-departmentally to manage quality control of accurate video and data streams.
Work closely with remote staff and help coordinate and manage data collection initiatives and troubleshoot issues.
COMPETENCIES:
Ability to build, cultivate, and leverage genuine relationships.
Ability to connect with and respect people from different backgrounds and cultures, including players, families, coaches, agents, trainers, and others.
Proficient with the necessary hardware, tools, and equipment to acquire information and conduct important tasks.
Ability to use the appropriate software platform(s) and digital tools necessary for the submission and quality control of evaluations.
An expertise of the Pro acquisition landscape.
Ability to understand and utilize the data that drives the desired signals in the Pro Scouting domain.
An understanding of each evaluation domain (development, performance, medical, behavioral health, background, etc.) to be able to succinctly capture the information necessary to meaningfully engage with experts (doctors, S&C coaches, analysts, etc.)
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency with modern database technologies including SQL.
Proficiency with programming languages (e.g., R, Python)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Experience with various video applications like TruMedia, BATS, Synergy, etc. is beneficial but not required.
Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required.
