WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Chlorine Technician will be responsible for monitoring chlorine/pH systems throughout the shift to ensure they remain within specification. Make adjustments as needed based on system performance or when contacted by operations.
- Monitor chlorine and pH levels in all relevant systems throughout the shift to ensure compliance with established specifications and safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections of chlorine injection and control systems to identify any irregularities or potential issues.
- Adjust chlorine and pH dosing equipment as needed to maintain proper chemical balance, based on real-time system performance or operational needs.
- Respond promptly to requests from operations chlorine technicians regarding chemical adjustments or troubleshooting assistance.
- Document all monitoring data, adjustments, and communications in logs or electronic systems for regulatory and operational records.
- Assist with troubleshooting system alarms or malfunctions, coordinating with water department, maintenance or operations personnel as needed.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of chlorine and related chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine calibration checks on chemical sensors and monitoring equipment to ensure accurate reading.
- Participate in shift handovers, clearly communicating any issues, adjustments made, or items requiring follow-up.
- Report any deviations from normal operating conditions to supervisors or lead technicians in a timely manner.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Capable of interpreting system performance data and determining necessary adjustments to maintain optimal conditions.
- Able to clearly communicate with operation chlorine technicians and team members, both verbally and in writing.
- Recognizes when issues exceed routine troubleshooting and escalates problems appropriately to food safety supervisors, maintenance, water department, or management in a timely and clear manner.
- Proficient in documenting adjustments, readings, and system performance accurately for compliance and operational tracking.
- Comfortable working with and adjusting pumps, valves, dosing systems, and other equipment related to chlorine systems.
- Ability to monitor systems consistently throughout the shift while handling additional requests or adjustments as needed.
- Able to respond quickly to system changes, alarms, or technician requests during the shift.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to handling and working around chlorine and other chemicals.
- Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with operations, maintenance, and supervisory staff.
- Comfortable using digital monitoring tools, control systems and data entry systems.
- Must be self-motivated and can perform multiple tasks.
- Ability to communicate in both English/Spanish including writing, speaking, and reading.
- Detail oriented and have a good writing ability for clear record keeping.
- Adhere to and effectively implement Bolthouse Farms’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, safe, and efficient operation of chlorine and pH systems.
- Dependable and can work flexible hours including weekends

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic Knowledge of Chemical Handling and Safety; Understanding of chlorine and pH systems, chemical dosing, and safe handling procedures.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Excel, Word, etc.
- Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check.
- Bilingual – English and Spanish (Required) Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to Follow SOPs and Safety Protocols; Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and maintain compliance with all safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years’ experience in food manufacturing or food production preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to heavy amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders
- Must be able to work in a production or outdoor environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, climbing
- Ability to ascend and descent ramps, steps, ladders, stairs using three-point contact
- Material exposure-moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and vibrations
- Environment exposure_ hot/humid conditions (95 ° Fahrenheit or above).
- Environmental exposure- cold/wet conditions (40 ° Fahrenheit or below)
- Must be able to wear required PPE including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators as necessary.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
1st Shift – 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, Weekends and holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotation workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs.
