PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Student Nurse Tech (SNT) is a student nurse who assists their preceptor with nursing care to patients assigned to their team. The Student Nurse Tech is responsible to the preceptor to which they are assigned. The SNT will receive a monthly stipend while completing the RN program. In exchange for the stipend, the SNT will agree to work two (2) months as a Registered Nurse for each month they receive the stipend.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrate positive customer service relations.
- Implement patient care under the guidance of the preceptor.
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested, within the scope of the nurse tech.
- Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Values positively.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Student in good standing of a nationally accredited nursing program with completion of nursing fundamentals course.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
- Current BLS required.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 12 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
