SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to new and existing customers by identifying and recommending products and services to meet customer’s financial needs. Builds account relationships by actively searching for opportunities to cross-sell bank’s products and services and makes referrals to other areas of the bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides exceptional customer service to current and potential customers, processes customer transactions accurately and efficiently and responds to customer inquiries in an efficient, timely and courteous manner.
  • Responsible for opening and servicing all retail and business deposit accounts, offering consumer loan solutions, and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Understands and adheres to all operational, compliance and audit procedures. Complies with laws and compliance regulations to ensure customer and bank are protected.
  • Knowledge of consumer loan process and compliance regulations. Has the ability to complete and underwrite personal loan applications. Able to identify past due loans and collect payment on delinquent loans. 
  • Regularly opens new accounts which include checking, savings, business, and CD/IRAs. Actively looks for opportunities to cross sell products and services including making referrals to meet customer’s needs.
  • Required, reliable attendance is required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 3-5 years job related experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license may be required for this position.

*This position may require S.A.F.E. registration at the time of employment. The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) web site (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position. Effective January 1, 2014, persons in this position may be required to meet the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau loan originator qualification requirements and must comply with The Bank of Elk River policy related to these requirements. The loan originator qualification requirements include meeting applicable financial responsibility, character, credit fitness and criminal background standards. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening.

LEVELS

Consumer Banker II         

At this level, the Consumer Banker possesses the skills, knowledge, and ability to approve and process consumer loans and ready reserve for current and potential customers. A Consumer Banker II will generate an average of two consumer loans per month and have a loan portfolio of $500,000.00. A Consumer Banker II can perform all the essential functions written in the Consumer Banker job description.                                         

Consumer Banker III

A Consumer Banker III is proficient in all areas of the Consumer Banker job description and all areas of a Consumer Banker level II. At this level, the Consumer Banker will have a minimum of two years of consumer lending experience. A Consumer Banker III will generate an average of five consumer loans per month and have a loan portfolio of $1,000,000.00. This position is required to service mortgage loans and be registered through Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
