Work Environment:
DOXA Insurance Holdings offers a dynamic work environment and a collaborative culture. Our headquarters is located on the 10th floor of the Indiana Michigan building at 101 E. Washington in the revitalized downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities:
The Insurance Licensing Specialist will be responsible for organizing, initiating, and maintaining corporate and individual licenses related to DOXA and its divisions. They work alongside Compliance, Legal, and Operation teams to ensure we are meeting and exceeding state regulations, laws, and rules as set forth by legislation and regulatory bodies. They will be responsible for researching, monitoring, and alerting changes to comply with state licensing requirements. They will also be assigned other regulatory duties as necessary, including appointments, affiliations, and DOI updates.
- Process initial applications, renewals, and reinstatements of corporate or individual employee insurance licenses.
- Record and analyze state regulatory changes to licensing requirements.
- Maintain relationships with states DOIs and other licensing regulatory bodies.
- Develop and complete licensing controls to ensure proper renewing of licenses.
- Develop and maintain a corporate licensing resource and database for state compliance.
- Assist in the completion of specialty licensing reports and the expansion of corporate specialty licenses.
- Facilitate onboarding and offboarding of individual licensees.
- Generate periodic reports of licensing growth and other licensing metrics.
- Train and advise individuals on internal databases and external licensing requirements.
- Advise leadership on expected licensing requirements for special projects and generate estimated timelines.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Research, monitor, and alert leadership to changes that affect compliance with state licensing requirements.
- Help ensure timely completion of continuing education requirements for individuals.
- Handling of new & terminated licensees; management of licensee state accounts.
- Assist in compliance needs as it pertains to the insurance operation including but not limited to monitoring, auditing, investigating, and updating of databases.
- Assist as needed in mergers and acquisitions, reporting of gaps in licensure during due diligence and closing.
Internal Functions:
- Update the various DOXA internal systems and databases during mergers and acquisitions.
- Communicate with licensees and answer specific licensing questions as needed.
- Assist in reporting licensing expenses to A/P.
- Advise on ad-hoc compliance questions from different business units throughout the organization.
Licensing Management:
- Timely reporting of regulatory changes.
- Timely renewal of licenses and early guidance to individual licensees when potential exists for lapse in licensure.
- No-fault license lapses of <2 per year.
- Accurate and timely onboarding of licensees.
- Execution of urgent licensure projects for team builds.
- Few to no internal complaints from individual licenses regarding customer service.
- Assistance in researching and guiding corporate compliance as requested.
Requirements
Education/Certification:
- A bachelor’s or associate degree preferred in legal studies, business, or related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years insurance industry
- Minimum 5 years in insurance licensing
Required Knowledge:
- Familiarity with state insurance licensing regulations and requirements
- Solid understanding of insurance terms, definitions, processes, regulatory needs and applicable resources/tools/applications
Skills/Abilities:
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft tools, basic database management and customer relationship management software
- Advanced proficiency in researching across various resources
- Advanced analytical skills to interpret, plan, and execute complex regulatory requirements
- Strong problem-solving capabilities to navigate challenges and obstacles that may arise in the compliance process
- Strong communication skills with experience in using various forms of communication to collaborate and problem solve
- Intermediate proficiency in reading reports and reviewing data
- Able to self-manage, self-pace, and organize your workload efficiency to ensure deadlines are met
Travel: 5% domestic travel required
