About the Show

Atlanta NOW on HOT 97 is a bold, community-driven news and culture discussion program that spotlights local and national stories, music headlines, and issues that matter to Metro Atlanta. The show focuses on the news and conversations shaping everyday life, powered by authentic voices, community contributors, and user-generated content through the NOW Local News App. This three-hour daily show weaves in the city’s music scene, connecting stories of innovation, growth, and change with the local people defining Metro Atlanta’s culture. Based in one of the nation’s most influential centers of hip hop, the show captures Atlanta’s energy as a cultural and creative powerhouse.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a dynamic Host / Producer to help lead Atlanta NOW on HOT 97.
This individual will not only host the show but also play a hands-on role in shaping its editorial direction.

The ideal candidate is a confident, savvy storyteller who lives and breathes Metro Atlanta: someone passionate about local news, community conversations, and the city’s role as a national center for Hip Hop culture. This isn’t just a hosting job. It’s a chance to redefine local news through authentic, engaging conversation.

Responsibilities

• Host a live 3-hour daily news and discussion program, delivering stories with clarity, energy, and authenticity.
• Collaborate with producers, contributors, and digital teams to plan, develop, and execute compelling segments.
• Participate in and moderate panel discussions on current events, community issues, entertainment, and music culture.
• Book guests and cultivate relationships with local leaders, artists, and influencers from across Metro Atlanta.
• Write and edit scripts and segment outlines that are sharp, conversational, and accurate.
• Edit video for on-air and digital use.
• Pitch and produce original story ideas that reflect and resonate with Atlanta’s diverse communities.
• Engage with audiences across the NOW Local News App, HOT 97 digital platforms, and social media.
• Source and feature user-generated content that highlights real community perspectives.
• Stay plugged in to local and national news, especially issues, trends, and stories that matter to Atlanta’s audience.
• Use the NOW Local News App to find and feature authentic, user-generated stories.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an on-camera host, reporter, or podcast personality.
• Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts.
• Deep connection to Atlanta’s communities and music scene, particularly hip hop
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative production environment.
• Video editing experience (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar) a plus.
• Skilled at social media storytelling and audience engagement.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Availability to work on-site in Atlanta and attend local events as needed.
