Position Summary: The primary purpose of this role is monthly reinsurance reporting, quarterly and
Annual statement preparation and premium journal entries for our insurance companies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reconciliation and payment of facultative reinsurance premiums
- Reinsurance treaty and quota share payments and reconciliation
- Booking, billing and receivables for catastrophe coverage and excess of loss coverage subject to a deductible
- Preparation of Quarterly and Annual Statements for filing with regulators
- Monthly premium journal entries in the WINS system
- Preparation of quarterly NYC commercial rent tax.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- 2-3 years of accounting experience is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites required.
- Insurance industry experience is preferred.
Skills:
- Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately.
- Demonstrate the ability to resolve problems and reconcile differences.
- High level of accuracy
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Ability to multi-task.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work Saturdays (and possibly an occasional Sunday) during the months of January and February for the annual close.
- Attend a few educational training sessions throughout the year.
The salary range for this role is $52,500 - $91,900. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
