Job Title: Paraeducator - eHelper

Salary Schedule: Para – 188 day

 

SUMMARYThis position will assist the District’s outside therapy service vendor to link students with a service provider. The eHelper will partner directly with the service provider to ensure LCSD#1 students are being served and their needs are being met.

Job Tasks Descriptions

1) Log into the service provider platform on therapy days.

    a)  Ensure the computer and equipment (headset, webcam) are working properly before sessions begin.

    b)  Find an ideal location for the computer: quiet, minimal distractions, good lighting.

    c)  Webcam positioning: ensure the student’s face is well-lit and centered in a webcam view.

2) Review the service provider schedule and confirm attendance.

    a)  Partner with your service providers to confirm the therapy schedule and first session date

    b)  Log in early on therapy days to chat with the service provider to confirm which students are present or absent.

    c)  Confirm a plan for the absent students and any scheduling changes that may be required.

    d)  Ensure students are at the computer for their session by the scheduled time.  

3) Inform the service providers of cancellations.

    a)  Notify the service provider ahead of time if you or a student will be absent.

    b)  Planned absences need to be communicated to the service provider with at least 24 hours’ notice.

4) Partner with the service provider’s Customer Care Team

    a)  Notify the Customer Care Team of the following:

         i)   Students that need to be added to the service provider’s caseload.

         ii)  Personnel changes that impact services (e-Helper, Back-up e-Helper, IT, etc.)

         iii) Persistent technical issues

Planned absences need to be communicated to the service provider with at least 24 hours’ notice.

5) Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No experience required
  • Experience working with school age children preferred

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Fingerprinting
  • Criminal background check required for hire

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

  • English language skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal relations skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Bilingual language skills preferred
  • Knowledge of child development stages preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

  • Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance expectations and to follow district procedures for absence reporting
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees policies, District policies, and building and department procedures

  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate/required safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator

 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals required
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, etc. preferred; required within 2 months after hire
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, etc. preferred; required within 2 months after hire
