About the Role:
Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Internal Communications to lead and elevate our internal communications strategy across the organization. This role is critical in driving employee engagement, fostering a unified culture, and ensuring that our internal messaging aligns with our mission, values, and business objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate success with bringing fresh ideas to the table and effectively manage multiple projects, be an experienced change leader, and cross-functional collaborator who can deliver clear, compelling, and consistent messaging to a diverse workforce across multiple channels. This role will be pivotal in shaping the way we communicate internally, streamlining processes, and ensuring that all employees have access to the information they need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy that supports organization goals and enhances employee experience.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on internal messaging and employee engagement.
- Executive Communications:
- Support C-level executives with communications plans, talking points, speeches, and presentations.
- Manage the planning and content for town halls, leadership briefings, and other key events.
- Messaging and Content:
- Lead the entire redesign process of our intranet, ensuring it becomes a central, user-friendly hub for all employees.
- Create and manage internal communications content firm-wide and across all business departments including announcements, intranet posts, leadership updates, department communications to foster a cohesive and informed work environment.
- Ensure all content is aligned with brand voice, values, and tone.
- Change and Culture Communication:
- Lead internal communications related to organizational change, initiatives, and strategic priorities.
- Promote cultural initiatives and employee engagement programs through compelling storytelling.
- Channels and Tools:
- Oversee internal communications channels (e.g., intranet, Teams, videos, email, digital signage) and ensure they are optimized for reach and engagement.
- Measure effectiveness of communication efforts and refine strategies accordingly.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of communication professionals and collaborate cross-functionally with internal business services departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
- 8–10+ years of experience in internal corporate communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of building and executing effective internal communications strategies in a complex organization.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting executive leaders and managing sensitive or change-related messaging.
- Familiarity with modern communication tools (e.g., SharePoint, Slack, Teams, video platforms).
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- A deep understanding of how to engage diverse employee audiences in hybrid workplaces.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience in legal industry or partnership model professional services.
