Your Day to Day as a Swage Operator:
- Performs and/or coordinates the shearing, blanking and forming of plates and other materials or components.
- Performs assembly and roll swaging of all element types.
- Performs set up of blanking dies, blanks plates to size and deburrs. Blanks rolled cover and frame stock to size and punches windows in frames.
- Performs set up of forming dies, forms plates to required shape and inspects/trial fits to guarantee ease of assembly.
- Degreases and shears stress relief strip from each edge of finished roll plate.
- Performs set up of roll swage machine, swage test specimen, assemblies, and swage elements.
- Responsible for correcting all water channels specification violations on swaged element.
- Assemble HFIR elements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess knowledge of swagers, milling machines, lathes, slotting machines, drill presses, press brake, Machine tools, precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or Diploma in Machine Technologies preferred.
- Journeyman's certification preferred.
