Education/Certification:
Required:
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program
- Active Texas License in Speech Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Compentence (CCC) from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience
- At least three (3) years of successful experience providing speech/language services
Preferred:
- Experience working with RDSPD programming and services
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledgeable of eligibility speech and language impairments/deaf, hard of hearing
- Knowledge of specialized services to serve students with speech impairments/deaf, hard of hearing
- Knowledgeable in special education federal, state, and local regulations and laws
- Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to guide and lead other professionals and work cooperatively with others
- Strong team building and conflict resolution skills and experience working with complex organizational structures

Function
The primary functions of the coordinator plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the speech, language and hearing programs. As program coordinator, work entails coordination for the provision of diagnostic and treatment services. The coordinator is responsible for supervising speech-language pathology services and . They have the responsibility for facilitating the district speech-language pathology services and Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD) by supporting campus implementation of these services. The coordinator will provide leadership, guidance, and supervision of program staff. The coordinator is also responsible for the review of program performance, coordination of activities, and reporting of results to the supervisor. Incumbent is responsible for policy recommendations, interpretation, and implementation to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and policies. Incumbent provides professional leadership for staff and campus teams and represents the District's interest with parents and the community.

Reponsibilities:
- Formulate goals and objectives for the Speech-Language Department and RDSPD
- Develop and implement operating guidelines based on district, state, and federal requirements.
- Hire and assign speech pathologists, based on student and district needs.
- Conduct appraisals for speech pathologists, according to the district's appraisal guidelines.
- Train and orient new staff.
- Manage the budget for respective departments.
- Promote the effective integration of programming fidelity and technology integration for students receiving specialized services for speech therapy and RDSPD
- Implement effective child find activities, including collaborating with partners/agencies for birth-2 for deaf/hard of hearing children
- Support campuses with the preparation and participation in contentious ARD meetings
- Communicate effectively with students (as appropriate), staff, parents, and community on issues related to special education programming for speech-language therapy and RDSPD
- Identify and provide in-service training to speech pathologists and RDSPD staff to address needs based on state and federal mandates.
- Implement the RDSPD Shared Service Arrangement (SSA)
- Coordinate update of handbooks, manuals, brochures, forms, and other publications in the assigned area to provide guidance and technical assistance to instructional staff and campus teams.
- Provide supervision and technical assistance related to programs, policies, laws, and regulations in the assigned area to staff, district leadership, and campus teams.
- Dedicate to providing an exceptional customer experience for all stakeholders with intentional and professional practices that promote a culture of respect and focus on achieving equitable outcomes
- Performs other related duties as assigned and on occasion directives driven by need where a team effort is required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Supervises staff assigned to Speech Services. Supervision includes personnel, departmental coordination of services and compliance. Staff include Accounting Clerk, Administrative Assistant, SLPs, SLP Interns, and SLP Assistants, RDSPD Specialist, RDSPD itinerant teachers, RDSPD interpreters, and RDSPD audiologist.
WORKING CONDITIONS: - Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions and maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequent travel within the district and occasional travel out of district; irregular and prolonged hours.
