Job Title: Technical Program Lead

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Technical Department as the co-lead for System development initiatives. In this role, you will spearhead the development of our next-generation geophysical data acquisition system, working at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and software.. The successful candidate will act as a hardware co-lead and product development manager, working closely with external engineering partners, internal technical staff, and cross-departmental stakeholders.
This role is open to both internal and external applicants.
This role is designed with significant growth potential: the selected candidate could be considered for inclusion in the succession plan for the current Technical Department Leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Leadership & Coordination
- Cooperatively lead the technical direction and execution of major hardware development initiatives. Develop and manage relationships with external engineering firms and consultants (hardware, firmware, and software development).
- Ensure alignment of project milestones with company strategy, budget, and timeline.
- Act as the central point of contact across departments (Operations, Interpretation, Sales, Finance) for this initiative.
- Hardware & Systems Development
- Cooperatively guide the design, testing, and integration of new hardware components Oversee system-level integration of timing, communication and data protocols
- Provide technical oversight of lab and field testing, ensuring system ruggedness and operational usability.
- Support distributed processing and quality control functions.
- Team Development & Mentorship
- Collaborate with internal technical staff, managing development meetings, assigning responsibilities.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership within the department.
- Contribute to building long-term technical capability and leadership succession in the department.
- Product & Market Alignment
- Ensure system design aligns with client requirements, operational realities, and long-term commercial goals.
- Provide input on scalability and future-proofing options. Work with Sales/Interpretation teams to ensure market readiness and client acceptance at key milestones.
Qualifications
Required
- Degree(s) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Geophysics, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience in Engineering design for hardware product development (preferably in geophysical instrumentation, distributed acquisition, or ruggedized field systems).
- Strong knowledge of data acquisition systems, digitizers, timing protocols, and embedded systems.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects with external engineering partners.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, make critical design decisions, and deliver to budget and schedule.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience with ground geophysical or related survey systems..
- Background in low-power electronics, firmware/software integration, or real-time data acquisition.
- Previous experience in a technical leadership role.
- Familiarity with field operations requirements (ruggedness, logistics, environmental considerations).
- Familiarity with Windows-oriented software and software development
