We are seeking a Revenue Cycle Analyst to join our Revenue Cycle team, where your skills will make a meaningful impact on both hospital operations and the patient experience. In this role, you’ll partner closely with colleagues across departments, using your analytical expertise to improve systems, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with evolving healthcare regulations, such as the No Surprises Act. By supporting key medical record systems like Paragon, eClinicalWorks (ECW), and clearinghouse software, you’ll help drive accurate revenue collection and optimize patient billing practices, ensuring our hospital can continue delivering the care and services that strengthen our community.
As a Revenue Cycle Analyst, you’ll collaborate closely with a variety of internal teams, including Finance, Clinical, IT, Patient Financial Services, Medical Records, and Administration, engaging daily to address system issues, fulfill report requests, and drive process improvements. You’ll also build strong external partnerships with software vendors such as Paragon and eClinicalWorks, clearinghouse providers, insurance companies, regulatory agencies, and external auditors, maintaining regular contact to support system performance, resolve claims, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. This position offers the chance to be at the center of critical cross-functional communication, making a real impact on both operational efficiency and patient experience.
Responsibilities:
Revenue Cycle Analysis
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, prepare reports, and recommend improvements that optimize revenue cycle performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including A/R days, collection rates, denial rates, and first-pass claim acceptance rates.
- Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly dashboards for leadership to guide strategic decisions.
System Maintenance & Optimization
- Maintain and support Paragon, eClinicalWorks (ECW), and clearinghouse software to ensure efficient system performance.
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with IT and vendors for timely resolution.
- Implement system updates, configurations, and workflow optimizations.
Accounts Receivable & Self-Pay Management
- Monitor aging reports and prioritize collections to reduce outstanding balances.
- Develop and implement strategies for self-pay revenue optimization, including flexible payment plans and financial assistance programs.
- Analyze point-of-service collection opportunities and support staff training on best practices.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Review workflow processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement recommendations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including the No Surprises Act including good faith estimates for self-pay patients, and support internal and external audits related to Revenue Cycle.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to optimize charge capture, billing accuracy, and denial prevention.
- Monitors changes in healthcare regulations and assesses impact on revenue cycle operations.
Denial Management & Reporting
- Analyze denial patterns and root causes to prevent future claim rejections and support appeals processes and tracks resolution outcomes
- Works with coding and clinical administrative staff to address documentation and coding issues.
- Prepare and present reports on revenue cycle performance and improvement initiatives to leadership.
- Communicates findings and recommendations to department managers and stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation of all analyses, processes, and improvement activities.

Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Experience with SQL or database querying preferred.
- Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes from registration through collections.
- Knowledge of insurance verification, authorization processes, and claim adjudication.
- Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance reimbursement methodologies.
Working Hours:
- The work environment is predominantly an office environment with standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
- Occasional extended hours may be required during month-end closing or system implementations.
