Who You’ll Work With

The Information Technology organization is the technological foundation of our business and works in collaboration with our partners from across the company. The team drives technology and digital transformation, partners with business leaders to design and execute new strategies through IT and operations services and ensures the necessary IT risk management and security measures are in place and aligned with enterprise architecture standards and principles.

About The Role

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior UI Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance user interfaces for enterprise-level applications in the Digital Experience Platforms area. You’ll bridge business needs with technical execution, shaping the future of our digital experiences.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Design 

  • Define UI/UX architecture and strategy, selecting frameworks, tools, and design patterns 
  • Build scalable frontend systems and reusable design components 
  • Translate wireframes and prototypes into functional, elegant interfaces 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals 

Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering a high-performance culture 
  • Champion UI best practices: code reviews, performance tuning, and modern methodologies 
  • Partner with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive solutions 
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences 

Delivery & Innovation 

  • Lead development of responsive, accessible, and high-performing web applications 
  • Optimize for speed, scalability, and accessibility (WCAG 2.0–2.2 compliance) 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and drive adoption of modern tools and practices 
  • Influence architectural direction and contribute to continuous improvement 

Competencies:

  • Business / Industry Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of the financial services industry, Retirement services, Life and Annuities business. 
  • Technical Acumen: Strong foundation in practical application of technology with a software engineering bias. Proven track record of identifying trends, staying current with skills and helping build an engineering-oriented culture.  Good knowledge of APIs, Microservices, Messaging Systems and proficiency with Cloud platforms like AWS/Azure/GCP.  Knowledge of Application and Infrastructure security best practices.  Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman Framework 
  • Strategic Positioning:  Helps defined business strategy by understanding what’s possible with technology and identifies solutions that support enterprise strategy, impact critical business outcomes, and drive organizational success through the evaluation of internal and external business contexts.

Required Experience 

  • 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in frontend development.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React (preferred). 
  • Proven experience with large-scale, consumer-facing web applications. 
  • Deep understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and performance optimization. 
  • Expertise in RESTful APIs, OAuth/JWT, and frontend testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme, etc.). 
  • Solid command of HTML, CSS, Git, and modern styling tools (SASS/LESS, styled components). 
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and the MERN stack. 
  • Familiarity with build tools like Webpack, Babel, Vite. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 

Work Location

This position is based in Corebridge Financial’s Houston, TX office and is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely.
